# Sign in to K16

> Select your institution and sign in with the authentication method configured for your workspace.

K16 routes you to an institution workspace before authentication. Your institution may use email and password, single sign-on, or both.

## Before you begin

You need your institution's workspace name or sign-in link and an active account or invitation.

    Go to [K16](https://k16.co/login). Choose a remembered workspace, or enter **Your institution's
    subdomain** and select **Continue**.

  <Step title="Choose a sign-in method">
    Your workspace may send you directly to its configured SSO provider. Follow that sign-in flow,
    or enter your K16 email and password when password sign-in is available.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Complete MFA">
    Enter the current code from your authenticator app when K16 requests it. See [Set up
    MFA](/getting-started/set-up-mfa) if enrollment is required.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm your workspace">
    Check the workspace name in the sidebar. Switch workspaces if you opened the wrong institution.

## Reset a K16 password

Use this flow only when your workspace offers K16 password sign-in. If your institution manages passwords through SSO, reset the password with that identity provider.

  <Step title="Request a reset code">
    On the password sign-in form, select **Forgot password?** Enter your **Username or Email**, then
    select **Send Reset Code**.

  <Step title="Check for the verification message">
    Retrieve the six-digit code sent for your account. Check your spam or quarantine folder if the
    message does not arrive.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set the new password">
    Enter the **Verification Code**, **New Password**, and **Confirm Password**. Follow the password
    requirements displayed for your workspace, then select **Reset Password**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Return to sign in">
    After K16 confirms the reset, select **Return to Sign In** and use the new password.

  Do not share the verification code or new password with K16 Support or your institution's
  administrator.

## Sign-in problems

    Use the exact workspace link from your invitation or ask your institution administrator to
    confirm the workspace identifier.

  <Accordion title="My password option is unavailable">
    Your identity provider may manage passwords. Return to your institution's SSO option or contact
    its identity team.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I return to the sign-in page">
    Complete any pending MFA challenge, then retry in a supported browser with cookies enabled.
    Record the time and URL if the loop continues.
