# Manage account security

> Review password ownership and configure authenticator-based MFA for your K16 account.

Open your account menu, select **Settings**, then select **Security**.

## Change your password

Before you begin, have your current K16 password available. If your identity provider manages your password, change it through that provider instead.

1. In **Password**, select **Update password**.
2. Enter **Current password**, **New password**, and **Confirm new password**.
3. Meet every displayed password requirement and choose a password different from the current one.
4. Select **Update password** and wait for the success confirmation.

If you do not know your current password, use the [password reset procedure](/getting-started/sign-in#reset-a-k16-password).

## Two-factor authentication

The **Two-Factor Authentication** row shows whether an authenticator is configured.

* Select **Set up MFA** when no method exists.
* Select **Add authenticator** when account policy supports another method.
* Select **Reconfigure** to replace the current authenticator after reauthentication.

See [Set up MFA](/getting-started/set-up-mfa) for the complete procedure.

<Warning>
  K16 Support does not need your password, authenticator setup key, QR code, or one-time code to
  troubleshoot account access.
